Poetry Examples

The following poems are offered not as templates to imitate, but as glimpses into the heart of Sacred and Wild. They reflect the kinds of themes we hope to cultivate: attentive wonder, faithful imagination, honest worship, and the quiet beauty of God's presence in both creation and everyday life.

We welcome many voices and writing styles. We are not looking for poems that sound like these—we are looking for work that shares the same spirit of truth, beauty, and wonder.

Planted

On the hills,
The sheep graze in the misty morning,
Their soft wool silvered by the dawn,
While a swallowtail glides upon the wind,
Dancing between shafts of golden light.

Below them, waves crash against the cliffs,
Sending spray into the air,
Not far from playful porpoises
Who leap through the cool ocean waters
And drift among the warm currents,
Where sea turtles swim with quiet grace,
Their ancient shells shimmering beneath the sun.

The same sun shines upon the savannah,
Where tall giraffes stretch toward the highest branches,
Nibbling leaves untouched by smaller animals,
Up above the grasses, where weary cheetahs pant
After chasing swift-footed gazelles,
Who sped past a clumsy baby elephant,
Sheltered beneath the shadow
Of her giant and careful mother.

She remembers the hidden watering holes,
Far, far away,
Where creatures gather to drink and bathe,
And where life pauses beneath the heat of day.
There an eagle rises from the bank,
Carried upward by warm, rising currents,
Until it soars among the clouds.

The same clouds drift over me

When I meet with the Lord,
Thanking Him
For the peaceful wonder planted across creation,
And for this abiding peace deep within my heart.

The Father’s Nest

I fly along paths of gold

Old visions seeing this unfold

Ancient decor of stone and cedar

Deep in heart of this believer

Freedom dances through the woods

Often whispers something good

Chance I catch a glimpse of Him

Brushes freely breezy wind

Prayers ascend and feeling near

Sleeping into love and cheer

Joy abounds and bliss commence

Flower, birch, and homely scents

My God – thou art deep forest hue

Conversations daily and new

I love you so, my Father pure

Worship among the singing bird

Listen dear and cozy rest

Home is here – The Father’s nest
